Job Description

We are looking to add a full-time Supply Chain Specialist to our team in Beltsville, MD. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Supply Chain and will work closely with internal departments as well as external suppliers. The Supply Chain Specialist will provide hands-on support across shipping, receiving, and supply management. This is an ideal role for someone with a continued interest in the supply chain who is ready to learn, and willing to take on practical and physical tasks.

The ideal candidate has experience generating purchase orders, handling standard incoming and outbound shipping, and organizing in a warehouse setting. They are self-motivated, adaptable, and ready to contribute to a collaborative team.

This individual will also be accountable for understanding policies and procedures of purchasing products, components, and equipment.

Responsibilities:


  • Receiving: Manage all receiving and staging of inbound shipments and orders of incoming goods. Willing and able to perform physical tasks (lifting, reaching) as needed. Able to manage the "3-Way Match (Purchase Order, Packing List & Invoice)" process.
  • Purchasing: Assist with purchasing non-critical and Kanban-related supplies. Provide support to the Buyer in managing bottleneck suppliers and basic category management.
  • Inventory & Handling: Restock, organize, and maintain Lab and Production supplies in warehouse setting. Includes safe use of ladders, dollies, pallet jacks and lifting materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Logistics & Shipping: Coordinate all inbound transportation with carriers, suppliers, and external services (Rigging, etc.) Support Domestic outbound shipping with potential for training in International and Hazmat.
  • Facility Support: Coordinate with Facilities to procure and document service-related purchases. Communicate with external service providers for documentation of completion and proper invoicing.

Required Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree or 2 years equivalent purchasing experience
  • Experience in managing orders, handling inventory, and communicating with various levels both internally and externally
  • Familiar with purchasing and inventory management best practices

Preferred Experience:


  • Lab and Production Environment Purchasing - raw materials and consumables
  • Higher-level Excel experience
  • Basic knowledge of MRP/ERP systems

  • Excellent Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbal and written to all levels of internal and external associates
  • Attention to Detail: Focused on accuracy and quality
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner
  • System & Software Learning: Effective computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint are a must. Able to develop skills in ERP and inventory systems with provided training.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to perform physical tasks safely and willing to learn basic warehouse activities. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Successfully be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new systems and processes, and continuously develop professional skills and knowledge
