It’s imperative given car companies will long be reliant on the battery space for their electric-vehicle businesses to be sustainable — and successful — in the long run. To make this work, the industry must focus on getting critical battery materials like lithium and nickel, domestic sourcing (to qualify for the tax credits set forth in President Joe Biden’s climate bill), finding the best chemistry, and recycling the batteries once they’re no longer in a vehicle.
