Supplier Quality Engineer Job Description

We are looking to add a full-time Supplier Quality Engineer to our team in Beltsville, MD. This position reports to the Quality and Compliance Manager and helps with the day-to-day operation of the company's quality team.

Responsibilities:

Qualify suppliers and maintain accurate records of supplier quality performance and documentation.

Conduct supplier/vendor audits virtually or on-site as needed.

Lead and support activities for quality systems such as CAPAs, change controls, and supplier deviations.

Provide assistance to cross-functional teams with troubleshooting investigations and problem resolution.

Lead RCAs related to supplier nonconformances.

Evaluate deviations and trends to determine root causes and assess quality impact.

Recommend CAPAs.

Review/approve raw material specifications.

Support material management as needed.

Write supplier performance evaluations.

Perform clerical work as needed scanning, filing, organizing.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in the sciences or engineering.

A minimum of 3 years of supplier quality experience

Lead auditor certification required

Lean six sigma certification preferred

Root Cause Analysis Training preferred

Required Skills:

Strong understanding of quality systems and compliance requirements

Strong knowledge of the ISO 9001 standard preferred

Superior organizational and time management skills

Strong auditing skills

High degree of independence, flexibility, initiative, and commitment

Participates in ongoing formal training and professional development to improve knowledge and execution of process and Quality improvement strategies

Knowledge of data management, spreadsheets, and word processing

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong technical writing skills

Ability to confidently approach and engage individuals

Attention to grammar and written communication

Proficiency in Microsoft office

Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills
