Quality and Compliance Manager Job Description

We are looking to add a full-time Quality and Compliance Manager to our team in Beltsville, MD. This position reports to the Director of Operations and will champion the implementation of Quality management system QMS from the ground up and be responsible for the quality of solid-state Li-ion batteries from the incoming raw material to the finished goods.
Responsibilities:
Manage successful implementation and certification of Quality Management System QMS, which includes preparing Quality manuals, procedures, and related documentation
Develop processes and documentation for compliance and reporting of QMS metrics to management and recommend improvements for performance
Create quality documents in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations
Liaise with external companies providing audit assistance
Manage internal records relating to compliance and quality throughout the design/production/manufacturing process
Train production line staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods
Identify and document processes and develop standard operating procedures SOP's or Best Practice Documents BPD's as required
Support planning and execution of Internal Quality compliance audits and Supplier Audits
Ensure that there are processes in place to monitor and measure all activities related to quality assurance performance improvement
Develop, measure, and report key quality metrics to drive quality, safety, and efficiency
Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate products and production equipment
Determine whether defects are due to poor workmanship or materials that were improperly manufactured or supplied by another company
Required Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Quality or Manufacturing
3+ years of Experience with QMS implementation and ownership, specifically ISO 9001, AS9100 Quality Systems or similar
Experience developing and implementing quality assurance plans from the ground up
Experience working in a manufacturing quality environment, preferably in battery production plant
Required Skills:
Superior interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
Expert knowledge of quality management systems
Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certification in quality management CQM, CQE, CQA, etc.
Familiarity with auditing standards ANSI, ISO 9001, IATF, etc.
Proven track record of successful project management
