We are looking for an EHS Leader to oversee our site's Environmental, Safety, Health aspects and build a safety-focused culture, maintain and establish EHS compliance, and support risk assessments for the first generation of ION's state-of-the-art solid-state battery production facility.
In this role, you will collaborate with senior leadership on EHS initiatives including facilities, equipment including high power/high voltage electronics, lab and pilot scale materials production and processing, employee training and compliance, and reporting. The person for this position cares about building a safety culture and a company that is functionally successful, not merely in regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Plans, performs, and leads work in a variety of Environmental, Health, and Safety activities including EHS program development, EHS inspections, EHS related training, loss prevention/risk management, EHS data collection and reporting, workers compensation administration, and emergency response programs.
Maintains intimate knowledge of ongoing and planned R&D, Engineering, and Operations activities for the purposes of proactive EHS support
Lead, implement and maintain EHS initiatives and programs including those related to site permitting, chemical inventory oversight and handling, equipment installation and operation, and employee training.
Develops, schedules, conducts, and documents EHS reviews and inspections.
Plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA rules and regulations.
Coordinates company Emergency Response Team ERT and Safety Committee. Provides protection for personnel and company property.
Implement and maintain the development of EHS programs utilizing the existing program deployment framework
Monitors and measures the effectiveness of EHS programs, policies, and procedures, including oversight of assessments, improvement plans, tracking, and recommending corrective actions.
Collects and maintains data for EHS reporting requirements, including filing of reports in accordance with federal, state, local, and internal requirements.
Responsible for internal and external safety audits, including documentation, recommendations, and tracking/resolving major and minor non-conformities.
Prepares and submits EHS required reports - internal and external.
Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental and energy agencies.
Serves as the primary point of contact for all EHS related matters in the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in an engineering field, preference to electrical or chemical engineering or related fields.
5+ years of experience working as an EHS/Facilities Professional and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Manufacturing experience in semiconductor, PV, chemical industry, batteries or similar is preferred.
Prior experience as an EHS manager or engineer in establishing and maintaining EHS and workplace safety programs for an organization that operates electronics and/or chemistry labs.
Ability to work and communicate with all leadership and employees to foster a culture that recognizes safety as a core value.
Acts as a change agent, can critically make decisions, and prioritizes effectively to support management.
Highly organized with excellent communication and analytical skills.
Expert knowledge of chemical safety hazards and safety risks analysis HAZOP, PSM, PSSR, etc
Physical Demands And Working Conditions
Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
Move long distances and be stationary for extended periods of time
Move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
